PATENT AGENT/INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY COUNSEL (BIOLOGY)
FLSA Status: Exempt Non-Exempt Job Number: 01100210 Department: Legal
Description: Successful candidates for this job must exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work well in multidisciplinary team settings. The initial focus of this position will be to manage a complex international patent portfolio, including patent drafting and prosecution, as well as adversarial transactions and litigation strategy development.
Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a biological science, good working knowledge of molecular biology and admission to practice before the U.S.P.T.O are required. An advanced degree in a biological science and background in metabolic disease is helpful, but not required
Experience: Patent Agent with 5 to 10 years of experience or Patent Attorney with 2 to 5 years of experience in patent drafting, prosecution, strategic counseling, portfolio management, freedom to operate analysis, and/or intellectual property litigation. Large law firm experience, prior exposure to supporting litigation and/or business development activities preferred, but not required.
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Standard office environment with an emphasis on sitting and keyboarding; and ability to carry a “banker’s box” full of documents.
