	Secretary Kenneth Jenkins, Ph.D. \| 858-350-6100 \| kenjenkins@townsend.com Special Counsel, Townsend & Townsend Ken Jenkins is Special Counsel at Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP, where he focuses his practice on patent counseling and patent litigation, primarily in the chemical and biosciences industries. Ken assists corporations and research institutions in developing their patent claiming and filing strategies, procuring patents on cornerstone technologies, and strategically managing patent portfolios to maximize investments. He also counsels lenders and investors in assessing the value of patent assets through due diligence reviews and represents generic pharmaceutical companies in high stakes patent litigations involving challenges under the Hatch-Waxman Act. Ken earned his J.D. from the University of California Hastings College of the Law, his Ph.D. in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Colorado, and his B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Texas.

He is a trial attorney who specializes in high-stakes patent and trade secret cases in the life sciences and electronics fields. Mr. Kjelland's cases have involved pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cell phones, hard disc drives, and automated processing equipment, among others. Mr. Kjelland is also a licensed patent attorney, and routinely counsels early-stage companies on a variety of IP issues, including strategic patent portfolio development, financing transactions, and litigation avoidance strategies. Mr. Kjelland earned his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School (1994), and holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (1988).

Mr. Zelkind has an extensive appellate practice and has presented numerous oral arguments to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit as principal counsel of record.
